About me

Louise (owner of Good Dog Walks and Daycare)

I am a keen walker myself and get a lot of joy out of watching dogs enjoy their freedom outside. I take care of the dogs and carry out walks in the company of my young daughter, so any dogs that come to us must be good with young children. (She is either on my back or in a buggy on walks, so out the way of any playtime.)

My approach is to only have a few dogs in my care at a time, so they will have plenty of attention. For daycare and boarding your dog will be taken care of in our family home. I live in Cranleigh with my husband, our two young girls and labrador Luna. I have always been passionate about animals and have a degree in Zoology (all those years ago I even carried out my Masters dissertation on dog enrichment in kennels). I have worked at various animal shelters over the years, including dog kennels. I started my dog walking business after 15 years of working on UK nature conservation policy, having decided to take on a more hands-on role with animals, and embrace my lifetime love of dogs.

I take the responsibility of looking after others’ dogs seriously and want owners to feel comfortable in the knowledge that their dog is in safe hands. I am currently carrying out a dog first aid course and am in the process of completing a more in-depth OfQual Level 2 qualification in Canine Care and Welfare. I also make the effort to stay up-to-date with the latest research in dog care. I am also fully insured.

The family

My husband Dan works from home a lot, so whilst he won’t be specifically caring for the dogs he will be around them a lot. He works for an animal welfare charity and has a lot of experience with dogs from working in dog kennels in the past.

Our daughters Amelie, 4, and Orla, 1, love being around the dogs and are always excited to have dogs stay. I am very conscious of their safety around dogs and they will never be left alone with them or in situations that may compromise this (I have a full risk assessment for their safety, as per the council’s licence requirements).

Looney is the friendliest dog, people very often comment on this on walks. Human or canine, she wants to be pals.
